late november in the garden
I had been waiting and watching for several weeks of November for the gingko leaves to turn the perfect golden color for harvesting. Every few days I would look out to see the leaves still green. I knew if I didn’t look on just the right day, I would miss the turning and they would drop. And in true form to a busy life, I did look on the right day but didn’t have time to harvest them! That night we had the first rain we’d had in weeks and in the morning, all the leaves were on the ground. However, knowing they were freshly fallen, I went ahead and gathered as many as I could off the ground - this was actually easier and felt kinder than plucking them off the tree.
I firmly believe in the healing power of this memory tincture. It has been integral to lessening the ‘brain fog’ experienced during perimenopause. I add a tablespoon every day to a glass of water - the effects are immediate and when I miss I day I notice. Being able to grow 2 of the 3 ingredients is also pretty satisfying. I was also growing the Gotu Kola for a bit in a pot, but was not able to keep it alive.
